How to Report a Hate Crime
- Inform authorities of any assaults, threats, and/or injuries.
- Get the responding officer’s name and badge number.
- Make sure the responding officer files an incident report form and assigns a case number.
- Always get your own copy of every report.
- If you believe the incident was hate/bias motivated, make sure the responding officer marks the “hate/bias motivated” or “hate crime/incident” box on the police report.
